ROUND TWO: Fall 2009
September 19, 2009
September, a month of transitions.
While transferring those silky summer pieces to the back of your closet, you may question what fall pieces you should bring back from last year; what exactly you can get away with by rewearing this season? Well, I’m here to tell you.
PURPLE. Last fall was all about the purple hues, this is something that you can bring back this year. Fall 2009 is going to be full of bright colors; an array of purples, blues, oranges, reds, anything that pops. Neon is huge this season, the brighter the better… So, feel free to incorporate your purple passion from last year.
CARDIGANS. Who doesn’t own a cardigan from last year? This is an easy piece to work back into your wardrobe for this season. Buttoned or unbuttoned, consider pairing it with a silky top (perhaps one that you just cannot bare to put away from the summer). Layering will be key this season, and a cardigan is a perfect way to top off a look. — Really popular this season, the boyfriend cardigan. If you can’t find one in your own closet, consider borrowing from your significant other.
LEATHER JACKET. Rocker trends started becoming popular last fall, so take your favorite pieces and bring them back, most importantly the leather jacket. This can be worn with anything from a dress to a casual t-shirt and jeans. Lucky you, Danny Zuko lives on for another season. (Trend Report for 2009: leather is hugely popular with studs.) — Don’t have a leather jacket? Leather pants are another must-have this season… maybe raid moms closet for a “vintage” pair.
FLORAL. Last fall big floral prints were huge, good news, they are here to stay for another season. For this season, take your floral print and pair it with a suit for work, a boyfriend cardigan or blazer for a casual date, or mix it with a pattern. (Remember: when mixing with another pattern, you must stay within the color family of the floral print.)
LBD. The little black dress; always a wardrobe staple, that can travel from season to season. Looking for something new? The LBD is taking on a more edgy look this season — Ranging from one shoulder, sleek cutouts, and body-hugging shapes. If your LBD doesn’t fit into these criteria, than maybe this should be added to your purchase list for this fall. As for those who don’t have an LBD at all, it’s safe to say you are one of the few. This is a staple wardrobe item, and best of all, can be brought back season to season.
Some may call it fashion frugal, I just like to call it recession friendly.
NEWSWORTHY: fall for the first fads this autumn
September 14, 2009
With leaves rolling in and football kickoffs, comes the hottest fall trends to pleasantly put out the summer heat.
First on the list, leather. And lots of it.
Starting at the root, splurge on over-the-knee leather boots. They will not only be well worth your cold hard cash, but possibly offer some extra warmth for the socks you couldn’t afford (and no one sees anyways).
Next, focus your attention on the accessories. Any dull outfit can be pulled together and made glamorous by the paired pieces. Consider leather handbags with studs.
Studs. Find them on bags, belts, jackets, jewelry, shoes, everything.
Splurge on can’t-live-without items, but don’t forget, this trend is certain to stay a while.
Plenty of leather and studs are sure to be a great start to the season,
And remember, there’s much more to come…
